The Venetian Method is an indirect painting method used by many artists throughout history. It involved painting a monochromatic or opaquely colored underpainting. Glazes and Scumbles are then added over top of the underpainting. Highlights are usually added in opaque paint wet-on-wet in the uppermost layers.
